THE INCURSIONS

We offer three unique curriculum-based incursions, two for senior school students and one for primary levels (see details below).  Depending on the stage of learning, we can tailor our incursions to cover topics such as:

-The basic needs, structure and function of living things;

- Classification;

- Adaptation;

- Single cell organisms;

- Abiotic and biotic features of ecosystems;

- Food weds & energy flow:

- Sustainable futures and the impact of humans on our oceans;

- The role of science inquiry in understanding the world around us.

Our Founder George Evatt, is a multi-award winning underwater cinematographer, marine educator and documentary maker.

SCHOOL REQUIREMENTS

We understand how busy teachers are, so we ensure set-up is easy and costs are kept low:

 We bring all equipment and only require a darkened space & two tables to display specimens;.

-Cost is approximately $6 per student + GST, depending on group size;

 -Teachers notes & student worksheets are provided.

We receive consistent positive teacher and student FEEDBACK.

BENEATH SOUTHERN SEAS

For Years 7-11, duration: 60 - 90 mins

George Evatt introduces students to the diversity and beauty of Australia's unique coastal marine life. This dynamic, presentation includes footage of over 100 different sea creatures and covers  specific curriculum outcomes depending on the year group's level. Includes Q & A session and hands on specimens.

OCEAN ISSUES

For years 7-11, duration: 60 - 90 mins

Science and technology has revealed how increasing human pressures are having a major effect on the world’s oceans. This presentation looks at some of these impacts and the effects they are having on marine diversity and ecosystems. Students will investigate issues such as pollution, overfishing and climate change. Students are encouraged to engage  in a Q & A session and notes are provided.

AQUANAUTS

Primary years, duration 50 - 70 mins

Younger students are given an introduction to the amazing creatures that live in our oceans, including whales, dolphins, sharks and rays and dozens of other fascinating sea creatures. They will have the chance to think scientifically, covering topic areas such as living things, adaptation and food chains. They will also have the opportunity to interact with our hands on specimens.
